Washington, D.C. — November 13, 2025 — Global Recreation, Events, and Tourism USA Coalition (GREAT USA) Executive Director C. Stewart Verdery, Jr. "The longest government shutdown in American history is finally over and not a moment too soon. With the U.S. about to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup and numerous other major events, such as the Consumer Electronics Show in Las
Vegas in January 2026, the nation needs to ensure that travel to and within the U.S. is welcoming, efficient and safe. Policy disagreements over issues unrelated to travel should never compromise the security and safety of our travel systems.
We look forward to working with the Trump Administration and Congress to quickly restore confidence in our travel infrastructure and transition to 2026 as the kickoff year for our decade of major global events in the United States."
